BARE is a dedicated human rights defender with over a decade of experience working with Haki na Sheria Initiative since 2012. Starting as a volunteer paralegal, BARE’s commitment, resilience, and passion for justice saw them rise through the ranks to become a Programme Officer. Over the years, BARE has played a key role as a linkage between HSI and citizenship Authorities in a range of advocacy and rights-based initiatives within the Dadaab refugee complex and surrounding communities. Their work spans critical areas such as citizenship rights, environmental advocacy, information counselling, and legal assistance, with a strong focus on empowering marginalized populations. BARE’s work has not only contributed to improving access to justice for vulnerable groups but also strengthened community awareness and engagement in human rights discourse.
